Divain would like to share some details about the duration of fragrances so that you can get a clearer idea of how their composition influences them. Perfumes are composed of a wide variety of ingredients and each of them has a different evaporation rate. As you may know, fragrances are structured in what is known as an ‘olfactory pyramid’, which is divided into top notes, heart notes and base notes. Top notes, such as citrus, have a quick evaporation, while base notes, such as vanilla, are more long-lasting. This means that a fresh and light fragrance, i.e. one that has more top notes, will naturally have a shorter duration than a more intense fragrance with more powerful heart and base notes. In addition, factors such as skin type, ambient temperature and the amount of product applied can also influence the duration of the scent. We understand that this can be a drawback and, if you wish, we can offer longer lasting alternatives that may better suit your needs.
